Women on Wings partner SSP proud winner of two Awards in one week

Swayam Shikshan Prayog (SSP), one of Women on Wings Development Partners, has won two prestigious Awards in one week. In partnership with SSP, Sakhi Retail, Aakar Innovations and Foundation Charity Fund Rijsholt, Women on Wings works on a sanitary pads program in India. The program focuses on the startup of sustainable enterprises in the production and sales of sanitary pads by women in rural India. The MoU with the Indian partners in this program was signed in the presence of Ms. Lilianne Ploumen, Dutch minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation in September 2013.

On 27 January, SSP was awarded Best Innovation for Social Entrepreneurship and Inclusive Business Models by the Maharashtra State Rural Livelihoods Mission at the Maharashtra Rural Livelihoods Innovation Forum. SSP was selected as the finalist amongst 38 finalists shortlisted from over 400 applications in Maharashtra.

Just a few days later, on 31 December, SSP was awarded Best Innovation in Rural Energy Sector by the Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society at the Bihar Innovation Forum. The BIF is an initiative of the Government of Bihar supported by the World Bank and implemented by the BRLPS in collaboration with the State Innovation Council. SSP was one of the 67 finalists shortlisted from 2,000 applications received on a Pan India basis.
