Women on Wings social enterprise partner since April 2026
Swayamshree is a multi-state social enterprise initiative launched in 2023 through a foundation partnership. Operating across Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Gujarat, its core intervention focuses on strengthening rural livelihoods by developing market-facing women’s collectives, specifically Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs). Primary commodities include maize, wheat, mustard, groundnut, soybean, pulses, millets and honey.
The program aims to drive social change by empowering women in rural communities and enhancing their economic agency. Swayamshree seeks to reach one million women across its operational states, enabling households to achieve a minimum annual income of ₹1 lakh. In the Madhya Pradesh chapter alone, the initiative targets 400,000 women farmers across nine districts.
Swayamshree utilizes an ecosystem-oriented business model that integrates collectivization pathways, such as Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and FPOs, with value-chain development. This farm-to-market approach involves decentralized village-level collection centers, local processing units, and structured market access through B2B and B2C channels. Partnerships with State Rural Livelihood Missions (SRLMs) and NGO partners like PRADAN and SRIJAN embed enterprise capabilities within existing systems.
Operations are designed to transition women from farm laborers to owners and managers of collective agricultural enterprises. The program establishes women-led institutions where 100% of shareholders and the majority of Board Directors are women. Beyond cultivation, women engage in professionalized roles across processing, marketing, and supply chain management, ensuring they capture a larger share of the agricultural value chain.
In September 2025, Women on Wings and Bhuvikash Krish-E Farmers Producer Company Limited (BKFPCL) and Dvara E-Registry (DER) entered a tripartite partnership which aims to co-create more employment opportunities for women in rural India.
