Sakhi Unique Resource Enterprise (SURE) is a social enterprise working primarily in Maharashtra & MP in India. It operates through a network of 3,000 rural women (Sakhis) in Maharashtra, MP & Karnataka who are members of self-help groups or farmers and micro-entrepreneurs. The enterprise focuses on building climate resilient rural livelihoods through last-mile sales & distribution of impact products and services across climate-smart agriculture, renewable energy, health and nutrition, and household products. We have also developed milk value chain and currently working on food value chain to take rural products to urban markets
SURE aims to strengthen rural livelihoods by enabling women to participate in local economies as informed producers, entrepreneurs, and community-level influencers. Its work focuses on improving farmer-level adoption of climate smart agriculture practices and DRE products thereby increasing income opportunities for rural women & farmers. The enterprise has engaged women across multiple districts in Maharashtra & MP through demand generation, training, and market access initiatives, and continues to expand its outreach through partnerships and programs.
SURE operates through its Sakhi Model, a decentralized, community-based model that combines training, market development, and distribution. It follows a cluster approach, where selected women leaders are trained to build the climate resilience of others in their communities. The enterprise partners with start-ups / innovators, corporates, development organizations, donors and farmer collectives to enable last-mile access to impact products and services. SURE, earns revenue from margins for sales, fees for marketing services & fees for project implementation. SURE shares its revenue with the Sakhi’s in the network, thereby enabling them earn income through roles in sales, marketing, training delivery, and data collection, creating diversified livelihood opportunities at the village level.
