Employment opportunities in Himachal Pradesh

The hometown of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama was where Rising Himachal took place on 7 to 9 November 2019 with 1,700 participants from all over the world. Women on Wings took part in the Dutch delegation which came to Dharamshala to look for partnerships that will contribute to developing the local economy in the hill state.

Boosting jobs for rural women
Rising Himachal Global Investors’ Meet 2019, an initiative from the government of Himachal Pradesh, was conceptualized to re-establish Himachal as a favored investment destination in India. It aimed at attracting global and national investors in sectors like tourism, education & skill development and agri & food processing, amongst others. Women on Wings takes pride in having started the discussion with the Himachal Pradesh Rural Development Department to boost job opportunities for rural women in the state. Ronald van het Hof, joint MD at Women on Wings: “We met with Dr. R.N. Batta, Secretary at the department and there immediately was a mutual understanding about how we could collaborate. We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding and shall be meeting again in December to discuss next steps.”

Sharing Dutch experience
Dutch delegation leader was Dr. Vikas S. Chaturvedi, CEO of Valuecent Group and Founder Chairman at ASSOCHAM Europe, who also is one of the directors in the Women on Wings board. Said Dr. Vikas S. Chaturvedi: “Himachal Pradesh has many opportunities for our delegation members to do business in. For instance, the Dutch can bring extensive experience in horticulture and water management. It will certainly boost employment opportunities in the state. Fourteen Memorandums of Understanding were signed by our Dutch delegation which comprised 30 members, representing 25 companies. We were the largest delegation to Rising Himachal. I am convinced our team was able to present how The Netherlands can be a great partner for Himachal Pradesh in many sectors.”

Top notch support to Rising Himachal
That this Rising Himachal Global Investors’ Meet 2019, a first of its kind in the state, is also supported by the national government, proofed the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who inaugurated the 3-day meet on Thursday morning. High profiled politicians and captains of industry were among the speakers. The Dutch delegation was extremely honored to be invited by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in his residence where they discussed the meaning of life for more than an hour. The Dutch delegation looks back at very successful participation.
