Sharing time and knowledge with Indian social enterprises comes without a bill for the consultancy work. To enable Women on Wings to work with this model, it finds financial support from corporates, corporate and family foundations and individuals. On November 1, 2017, Martha van Dijk handed over her fundraising responsibilities for Women on Wings to Kaat Burbidge-van Velde.
Martha van Dijk has been involved with Women on Wings over five years. Martha’s critical and transparent view on proposals and reports and her professional approach resulted in a number of long-term funding partnerships and one-time donations. Martha: “Resigning was a very tough decision as Women on Wings comes so close to my heart. But I am no longer able to combine it with the professional career I have next to Women on Wings. I will surely miss the Wednesdays when the Dutch team meets at the office in Austerlitz. As an expert I look forward to continue contributing to the Women on Wings mission.”
Balancing the head & heart
The new fundraising professional, Kaat Burbidge-van Velde, has extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector and is specialized in relation based fundraising, mainly with national and international family, private and corporate foundations, individuals, companies and governments. Kaat: “I have had the pleasure and privilege to work for many different organizations. This enabled me to experience a great diversity of inspiring initiatives all over the globe. In my opinion, what these initiatives and the people behind it have in common is ‘knowledge combined with passion’. Once those two elements are balanced, you will get the best results to contribute to a better world!”
Fundraising team effort
To make sure Women on Wings raises enough funds to enable the organization to continue its work on the long run, it constantly looks for new partnerships. In India it has two professionals and in the Netherlands one freelancer who work on the fundraising challenges.
