IKEA and Rangsutra collaborate in changing livelihoods in rural India

IKEA, world’s largest home furnishing retailer, works with Women on Wings’ social enterprise partner Rangsutra Crafts on co-creating a limited edition of home furnishings, which are being handmade by women in and around Varanasi.

Handmade with a social mission
In the link you can watch Sumita Ghose, founder and CEO of Rangsutra Crafts, talk about the collaboration with IKEA and the impact that creates for the women and their families who make products like cushion covers and bed covers. From May 2015, this limited edition of home furnishings will find their way to IKEA customers in a selected number of stores in Europe.

Responsibility beyond home furnishing
The IKEA vision is to create a better everyday life for the many people. This includes creating a world where people take better care of the environment, the earth’s resources, and each other. The partnership with social entrepreneurs all over the world is just one the many programs. All profits go back into the initiatives to support long-term partnerships with social entrepreneurs around the world.
More about the limited edition program can be found on the IKEA Sweden site.
