Women on Wings and EXIM BANK of India join forces

The Dutch trade mission to India resulted in a partnership with Women on Wings and The Export and Import Bank (EXIM BANK) of India. The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by Women on Wings and EXIM Bank of India on 4 September in Mumbai in the presence of Ms. Ploumen, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation (photo: in the middle). The aim of the cooperation is to improve the position of women in rural India by supporting Indian social enterprises in their overall growth in general and exports in particular.

Maria van der Heijden, managing co-founder Women on Wings (photo: 3rd right): “By collaborating the strengths of both our organizations we will add even more value. Access to finance and business knowledge are a strong liaison to create more social impact.”

David Rasquinha, Executive Director EXIM BANK of India (photo: 2nd left): “It was like I was in heaven when I came to know about Women on Wings“.

Currently, EXIM Bank and Women on Wings both already support a number of organizations in rural India. EXIM Bank of India connects organizations in rural India with clients worldwide. Women on Wings provides these organizations professional business knowledge, focusing on a growth strategy. This cooperation, alongside economic growth and access to export for Women on Wings clients, has even more effect: more jobs for women.

“Through this partnership with Women on Wings, we want to enable more women to earn their own income that will give them greater financial means to improve their livelihoods. Economic independence for women means more children can go to school, more meals per day for their families and communities, and an overall better standard of living for them and future generations”
