Expertise: executive leadership in consumer-facing industries
With over three decades of executive leadership experience, my career has been defined by a commitment to bridging the gap between high-level corporate strategy and the ground-level reality of the consumer. As an alumna of both IIM Ahmedabad and Harvard Business School, I have navigated the intricacies of consumer-facing industries within a diverse array of environments, ranging from agile family-owned businesses to complex multinational corporations. This dual perspective has allowed me to cultivate a leadership style that is as much about financial discipline as it is about human-centric growth.
I believe that sustainable success is only possible when a company can anticipate external pressures, such as inflation, trade fluctuations, and tax policy, and pivot its strategy accordingly. I have spent years honing expertise in margin pressures and cost optimization, ensuring the businesses I lead are not just growing, but are resilient.
I take immense pride in building multifunctional, diversity-friendly teams that challenge the status quo. By fostering an environment where different perspectives are valued, I ensure that our organizations remain as dynamic and diverse as the markets we serve.
A core pillar of my professional philosophy is an unwavering belief in women’s empowerment. To me, empowerment is not a buzzword; it is a fundamental economic necessity. I am a staunch advocate for the economic independence of women, viewing it as the most powerful catalyst for social and systemic change.
I have always believed that the best insights are found in the field, not the office. This ‘ear to the ground’ approach led me to personally ‘walk the market’ in over 52 cities across urban and rural India. These journeys keep me grounded in market realities while providing adirect window into the social development occurring at the grassroots level .
With my deep commitment towards women’s empowerment, Women on Wings organization’s mission to create one million jobs for women in rural India resonates perfectly with my goal of fostering systemic equality through economic opportunity.
