Women on Wings social enterprise partner since June 2020
An initiative of Shree Panchamdas Organic Khadi Gramodhyog Seva Samiti (SPOKSS), KOSH is a purpose-driven social enterprise that blends sustainability, innovation, and traditional craftsmanship. Founded in 2020, KOSH creates premium organic cotton khadi fabrics for garments and upholstery, produced using ethical, low-impact methods that serve both people and the planet.
Based in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, KOSH is committed to reviving India’s artisanal heritage while enabling large-scale social impact. The brand works directly with marginalized rural artisans—90% of whom are women—across seven decentralized clusters in Uttar Pradesh. From 10 women at the start of its journey, KOSH now provides livelihoods to over 3,200 women and aims to expand to 10,000 women by 2030.
What sets KOSH apart:
• Organic Cotton Khadi for textile & upholstery:
KOSH produces handspun, handwoven organic cotton khadi fabrics used in garments, upholstery, and institutional apparel lines. It also offers on-job garment manufacturing for brands and institutions, providing tailored end-to-end textile solutions.
• Natural & innovative dyeing techniques:
Embracing innovation in sustainability, KOSH uses cold-process natural dyeing techniques, including dyes extracted from algae, significantly reducing energy and water consumption.
• Social impact at the core:
The enterprise functions on a decentralized, artisan-first model focused on women’s empowerment, particularly among Muslim and other marginalized communities in rural India.
• Visionary leadership:
KOSH was founded by Er. Richa Saxena, a young social entrepreneur with a B.Tech in Textile Production and a Master’s degree in Renewable Energy. Her multidisciplinary background and passion for sustainable development have been the driving force behind KOSH’s success and vision.
In partnership with Women on Wings:
Since June 2020, KOSH has partnered with Women on Wings, working together to scale employment and income opportunities for rural women through sustainable textile-based livelihoods.
