Co-founder Women on Wings appointed COO at HiiL, innovators in justice

Since August 1, Women on Wings co-founder Ellen Tacoma is appointed Chief Operations Officer at HiiL. HiiL’s mission is to become an exemplary social enterprise that makes justice journeys work and universally accessible. It aims to create a world where everyone who faces a conflict or crime should have access to legal support that is effective, safe, understandable, affordable and perhaps most importantly, available when it’s needed.

HiiL, that operates its global activities from its office at The Hague in the Netherlands, realizes its mission by innovating justice. They developed a methodology to measure people’s experiences with justice, related to specific topics. The measurement is done in individual countries. Based on the results which reflect the needs of citizens, HiiL develops new justice journeys together with local stakeholders. Parallel entrepreneurs are invited to develop innovative solutions related to the specific justice topics as well. The result is an honest, transparent and careful justice process serving the needs of the people.

Since April 1, 2016, Ellen Tacoma is non-executive in the board at Women on Wings.

“Through this partnership with Women on Wings, we want to enable more women to earn their own income that will give them greater financial means to improve their livelihoods. Economic independence for women means more children can go to school, more meals per day for their families and communities, and an overall better standard of living for them and future generations”
